Peopled by a fantastic mixture of real and fictional people swashbuckling pirates), it details the 17th-century birth of economics and the \u201cscientific method\u201d. I\u2019m not sure which is more amazing \u2014 the fact that Stephenson has made book on economic theory interesting or that the people and events in it are firmly grounded in historical fact.
